Verdabbio, Switzerland: A Hidden Alpine Retreat Worth the Detour

The Hidden Charms of Verdabbio


The journey through Europe wound its way into the heart of Switzerland, to the elegant capital of Bern. There, while staying in a room in a local home through Airbnb, a conversation with my kind Swiss hosts subtly shifted the course of the trip. Over a beer and shared travel stories, I told them about my plans to visit Pella Boleto in Italy—the village of a great-grandfather—and they smiled.


“We have a small cabin in Cama Verdabbio,” they said. “It’s along your route. You’re welcome to stop, rest, and use the facilities.”
